We were fortunate enough to meet Benjamin Paldacci at the Woodstock Invitational last year in 2015, and this year Paul was able to take home an OM from Benjamin after the Santa Barbara show.
What a find! This OM is brand new, shining like a diamond at high noon, with a jaw-dropping set of Malaysian Blackwood back and sides and Carpathian Spruce top. From the smooth contour of the neck to the graceful swell of the lower bout, this guitar is a phenomenal example of lutherie at its finest. Of course, looks alone do not make a guitar; it's got to have a sound to match. Paldacci has more than met the challenge: the voice is somewhere between a choir and a church organ, with an immensely colorful and present tone.
When you put finger (or pick) to string, this Paldacci responds instantly with a full and articulate voice. The treble strings ring clearly and with energy, poised for play, but are well-balanced with the mids and the bass register, itself a fierce and energetic presence. Played in standard or DADGAD, this OM offers definition, depth, and breadth; in a word, angelic.

I just wanted to let you know that after spending the weekend with her, I can honestly say that ''I love her''.
She is incredible in her richness and responsiveness, but its the trebles thats really amazing... and the treble is my favorite on all of my guitars! And that's something! It sounds like a cello in a cathedral.

Right now, I just played it unplugged so, what I say about, is purely acoustical-style.
The sound is plenty, powerfull like a dread! It is like a Whirlpool (I don't know... it is positive, right?)
Things you could talk about:
- easy to play and lightweight
- powerfull for an OM size
- the Drop D sound: Awesome!
- the craftsmanship!

- sur le plan de l'ergonomie, avec un manche qui refuse de sortir de ma main;
- sur le plan de l’esthétique, les photos du post et celle de l'annonce sur le site en donne un bon aperçu;
- sur le plan du son, avec une profondeur de basses totalement bluffante sur un modèle de cette taille - ça gronde, ça vibre, c'est sauvage et très beau!
Bref le trio est pour moi complet - je trouve l'instrument formidable, même si j'ai toujours eu de mal à décrire et objectiver un son...

Folks, this past Sunday, I had the good fortune of spending a few hours with Ben's first 00, Paldacci #06. This was the second time I'd had the pleasure, and I quickly discovered many things about it, great things, that I hadn't really noticed the first time round. And I'm not talking about Benjamin's amazing woodworking skills.
My friend's Paldacci 00 is a fantastic fingerstyle guitar. The bass is surprisingly deep and powerful for a guitar of its size, and in that regard it seems to pay homage to the Somogyi school. Midrange is warm, clear, and incredibly detailed. And the highs, mon dieu!, so full, so round, so sweet. Balance across the strings and all over the neck is excellent. This guitar sounds and responds very much like a nylon-stringed instrument, the attack is soft and firm at the same time, but with all the sustain of a steel-string. It's rewarding and addictive playing experience, that's for sure!
Strummed, the guitar is less impressive, but that is clearly not its mission statement. In side by side comparisons with a bunch of other high-end guitars, it stands firmly outside the Martin camp. If folk songs are your thing, you can certainly play them on the Paldacci, but you won't sound much like the record. But for all sorts of fingerstyle material, it is in the same league as the others we had at hand.
A great guitar from a great young builder. Bravo, Ben!

Aujourd'hui j'ai eu l'occasion d'essayer cette guitare pour la deuxième fois. Même si le manche est déroutant au premier abord, elle est tout simplement formidable. Pierre-Émile a été bien récompensé de son pari sur le talent de Benjamin.
Ses marques de noblesse? Des graves profonds, un grand équilibre entre les cordes et partout sur le manche, et chose difficile, des aiguës de malade!!!
Elles sont pleines, rondes, comme sur une nylon, mais avec le sustain d'un piano.
Cette magnifique 00 est très claire et chaleureuse en même temps, on devient vite accro. En fingerstyle, elle réagit un peu comme une classique, dans le sens où les notes ne se mélangent pas comme sur une folk.

J'ai joué cette 00-12 et je confirme que c'est une bombe atomique. Un sustain, un volume énorme dans un si petit format c'est vraiment du grand art.
C'est la première Paldacci que je joue et j'ai été vraiment extrêmement impressionné. Le registre sonore est parfaitement équilibré.
Des graves vrombissants (un growl Martinesque rien de moins) des médiums très présents et des aigus solides à couper au couteau et parfaitement définis comme de petite cloches.
J'avais beaucoup de sympathie pour toi, mais maintenant je dois y ajouter beaucoup de respect Bravo ! pour moi cette 00 est tout là haut dans la lutherie mondiale. Just my 2 cents... Évidemment le design de la tête, est un vrai parti pris. En vrai c'est beaucoup plus classieux qu'en photo. Les bois de la tête sont si beaux...

En rencontrant Ben, on confirme ce qu'on ressent au travers de ses différents messages sur le forum, à savoir quelqu’un de passionné et d'extrêmement impliqué dans tous les aspects de son art.

Je trouve remarquable qu'il ait fait l'effort de venir me remettre la guitare en main propre. Peut-être que je m'avance, mais je pense que pour lui cela fait aussi parti du processus de création, voir les premières impressions d'un "client" et ce au même titre que de choisir le bois, les barrages... J'ai donc pu la jouer quelques heures depuis que je l'ai récupérée.
Ce que j'aime beaucoup sur cette guitare, c'est qu'elle invite à l'expressivité. On a envie de la laisser sonner et pas forcément de faire une course de vitesse sur le manche. D'ailleurs le sustain est vraiment impressionnant.

Cela étant dit je l'ai aussi un peu bousculée sur des choses plus musclées (dans la limite du raisonnable et bien sûr sans médiator) et elle le vit très bien avec des notes qui restent très précises et jamais ne brouillonnent. Les basses sont incroyables surtout lorsqu'on fait sonner la corde de mi à vide, cela remplit l'espace.J'ai hâte de voir comment elle va évoluer.

L'échéance des 6 mois approche et un premier bilan s'impose.
Je prends de plus en plus de plaisir à jouer la Higuerilla. C'est étonnant, car elle est à la fois puissante, mais avec un son très défini et jamais brouillon, quelle que soit l'attaque. Elle est d'une grande réactivité et pousse à l'expressivité.
Concernant la petite "raideur" dans les aigus du début, celle-ci s'efface progressivement avec des notes que je qualifierai de plus souples (je ne sais pas comment qualifier ça autrement). Les basses sont toujours aussi belles, mais elles l'étaient déjà depuis le début.

En bref, vraiment très satisfait de mon acquisition.
